About The Position

CopperPoint has a exciting opportunity for an Adjuster II P&C Claims. In this role, you will own medium-exposure auto and general liability claims that demand strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and confident decision-making. With significant autonomy to evaluate coverage, assess liability, and negotiate resolutions, you'll drive fair claim outcomes while protecting the interests of our insureds. Your expertise will also help shape departmental best practices and strengthen CopperPoint's reputation for delivering exceptional claims service and industry-leading expertise.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365 products.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills with the confidence to make independent, high-stakes decisions on coverage and settlements.
  • Team-oriented approach with a commitment to mentoring junior staff and contributing to departmental excellence.
  • Growth mindset with openness to feedback, continuing education, and evolving best practices in claims management.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree and/or insurance designations (CPCU, AIC, ARM) strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience adjusting casualty claims (auto liability, general liability) is preferred, though candidates with exceptional large-loss or specialized casualty experience may be considered.
  • Proven track record handling litigated claims from pre-suit through trial.
  • Commercial casualty experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with construction and trucking claims is preferred.
  • Guidewire experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively handle an inventory of 70-100 commercial automobile and general liability claims typically ranging from $50,000 to $500,000.
  • Evaluate coverage, identify potential issues, and prepare coverage letters for supervisor review.
  • Investigate liability and damages, determine case value, and set reserves within assigned authority level.
  • Manage claims activities in Guidewire Claims Center.
  • Provide prompt and professional responses to client and broker requests.
  • Assess damages, negotiate settlements, and represent the company at mediations as needed.
  • Identify and escalate emerging trends, subrogation opportunities, and systemic risks to internal business units.
  • Direct and manage outside counsel, experts, and vendors, including review of invoices for accuracy and strategic oversight of litigation budgets.
  • Mentor less-experienced adjusters and support staff.
  • Participate in adjuster training, continuing education, and team roundtables.
  • Occasional travel for investigations, mediations, trials, and team-building events (estimated 5% annually).
