About The Position

The Department of Psychology at North Greenville University is seeking applications for in-person adjunct instructors of psychology. The role involves teaching introductory psychology and other survey courses that align with the instructor's expertise. Candidates should possess a broad education in the field of psychology. North Greenville University is a teaching institution affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Faculty members are expected to be orthodox Christians with a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, serving as role models in piety and ethics, maintaining active membership in an evangelical congregation, and mentoring students both academically and spiritually. They are Christian scholars who approach their discipline from a biblical worldview and are expected to teach in accordance with, and not contrary to, the university’s Statement on Human Flourishing. All employees are required to abstain from illegal drugs and alcoholic beverages.

Requirements

Master’s Degree or higher in Psychology from an accredited four-year institution
Verifiable prior in-person teaching experience preferred
Understand and comply with FERPA regulations
Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model
Affirm an understanding of, and willingness not to teach contrary to, the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
Agree to abide by the employee and faculty handbooks, including community standards agreements.

Responsibilities

Instruct classes as assigned
Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
Prepare lesson plans and course material as required
Effectively organize and present subject matter to students
Objectively assess students for academic performance
Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation
Effectively utilize the Canvas learning management system
Effectively utilize Honorlock monitoring system in online courses if utilized
Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission
