About The Position

This position involves teaching Music 160R: Percussion at the School of Music. The role includes providing 30-minute drum set and four-mallet marimba lessons to non-major percussionists. The instructor will collaborate with full-time percussion faculty to assess student needs and schedule lessons each semester. The schedule is dependent on student availability. There may be opportunities to teach marching and various concert percussion lessons.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Music required (completed by start date).
• Ability to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
• Commitment to the mission of BYU and the School of Music.
• Ability to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (for members).
• Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
• Must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend (for new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Music preferred.
• Collegiate teaching experience preferred.
• Professional-level experience performing various styles of drum set and other percussion preferred.
• Preference given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

• Teach Music 160R: Percussion, including 30-minute drum set and four-mallet marimba lessons to non-major percussionists.
