About The Position

BYU's Design Department is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach undergraduate motion design courses. This part-time position involves lecturing, creating assignments, grading, conducting critiques, and responding to student emails. The courses to be taught are DES 280: Motion Concepts, DESGD 380 Motion Design, and DES 383 Analog Motion or Interdisciplinary Motion courses. Part-time faculty are not required to hold office hours, attend staff meetings, serve on committees, or mentor students. The successful candidate must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. Applicants must submit an updated curriculum vitae, cover letter, and a Mission Alignment Statement.

Requirements

  • BFA required.
  • The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Experience communicating with college-level students.
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues in a collegial manner.
  • Ability to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • MFA in Graphic Design preferred.
  • Preference given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses on a part-time basis using department-approved curriculum.
