About The Position

BYU's Department of Church History & Doctrine is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Church History & Doctrine courses, specifically Rel C 200 (Eternal Family) and Rel C 333 (Living Prophets). Classes may be offered during the day, in the evening, online through BYU Online, or at the BYU Salt Lake Center. The department is committed to furthering the mission of Brigham Young University and BYU Religious Education by teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and modern prophets. The goal is to help students develop faith, become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, and strengthen their ability to find answers, resolve doubts, and respond with faith. Candidates are asked to describe their qualifications and interest in teaching the Foundations of the Restoration course in their cover letter, including academic training, past teaching experience, and other evidence of competency. Requirements

  • MA Degree. Must have the required degree by start date.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes in Church History & Doctrine (Rel C 200 Eternal Family; Rel C 333 Living Prophets).
  • Classes may be day, evening, BYU Online, or BYU Salt Lake Center classes.
  • Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.
