About The Position

Bergen Community College is seeking adjunct instructors for the Fall and Winter 2026 semesters within the division of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. The Social Science Department, which includes Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology, aims to foster excellence in teaching and learning. The department provides students with an understanding of interdisciplinary connections and the ability to apply theories experientially. Faculty are expected to offer diverse courses that cater to various student needs, promote critical thinking through problem-solving and application-based coursework, and introduce students to the effective use of technology in their respective fields. The department also encourages scholarly activity and faculty collaboration in curriculum development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology or related field (for Psychology)
  • Master's degree in Anthropology or related field (for Anthropology)
  • Master's degree in Political Science or related field (for Political Science)
  • Master's degree in Sociology or related field (for Sociology)
  • Master's degree in Social Work/Sociology (for Social Work)

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for Psychology.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for Anthropology.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for Political Science.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for Sociology.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for Social Work.
  • Clinical and field experience will be considered for Social Work.

Responsibilities

  • Teach college-level courses in Psychology, Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology, or Social Work.
  • Promote excellence in teaching and learning within the discipline.
  • Provide students with an awareness of the connections between subjects and strengthen their ability to apply theories experientially.
  • Emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and applications in coursework.
  • Introduce students to the effective uses of technology in the discipline.
  • Engage in scholarly activity and collaborate with faculty in developing current and relevant curriculum.
