About The Position

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is seeking candidates for an adjunct teaching position in the traditional undergraduate program within the School of Nursing. The university is looking for an individual capable of excellent teaching, with responsibilities beginning August 2026. The role involves teaching a variety of courses within the traditional undergraduate program.

Requirements

BSN required.
Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education.
Desire to work in a Christian university.
Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
Agreement to live in accordance with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in the area of the traditional undergraduate program, including general education and service courses.
Utilize instructional strategies and techniques appropriate for teaching undergraduate students.
Instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
Write syllabi and deliver illustrated lectures.
Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Engage in personal scholarship and scholarship with students.
Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially.
Participate in departmental activities and governance.
Serve on university faculty committees/working groups and perform other normal faculty duties.
Contribute to preparing students for their post-graduate careers and self-discovery.
