About The Position

The School of Nursing at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is seeking candidates for an adjunct teaching position in its graduate programs. PLNU is a Christian liberal arts university committed to providing higher education in a vibrant Christian environment. The university is looking for an individual capable of excellent teaching, with responsibilities beginning August 2026. The role involves teaching a wide variety of courses within the graduate programs.

Requirements

• MSN required.
• Evidence of a commitment to excellence in (undergraduate/graduate) teaching.
• Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university.
• Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
• Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
• Agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. in Nursing/DNP preferred.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in the area of the graduate programs, including some general education and service courses.
• Instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate graduate-level students.
• Write syllabi and deliver illustrated lectures.
• Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Engage in personal scholarship and scholarship with students.
• Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially.
• Participate in departmental activities and governance.
• Serve on university faculty committees/working groups and perform other normal faculty duties.
• Contribute in preparing students for their post-graduate career and finding who they are called to be.

Benefits

• PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $5,013 - $6,684. The units will determine the actual salary.
