About The Position

The Women’s Health and Exercise Laboratories at Penn State University is seeking an adjunct researcher with skills in the execution of human clinical research and randomized clinical trials to lead a study on perimenopausal bone health. This position is funded by the USDA and will focus on the attenuation of bone loss during late perimenopause and early menopause. The candidate will work within the Penn State College of Health and Human Development, Department of Kinesiology, under the co-direction of Dr. Mary Jane De Souza and Dr. Nancy Williams.

Requirements

  • Skills in the execution of human clinical research and randomized clinical trials.
  • Background in the execution of human clinical research.
  • Experience managing and writing Institutional Review Board Human Study requirements.
  • Experience managing modifications for study design approvals, protocol applications, and modification issues.
  • Experience overseeing and leading studies and functioning as a coordinator.
  • Experience working with a Clinical Research Center to manage nursing visits and study visits.
  • Experience managing database organization, data entry, and data analyses.
  • Good experience running longitudinal statistical analyses.
  • Experience managing day-to-day study visits with participants.
  • Experience drafting study reports.
  • Experience managing adverse study event logs.
  • Experience overseeing and working with laboratory technicians.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Capacity to multi-task.
  • Ability to be a part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • A track record of successful research in the fields of mid-life and menopause physiology and bone health and osteoporosis fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and writing Institutional Review Board Human Study requirements, including all required modifications for study design approvals, protocol applications, and modification issues related to experimental protocols.
  • Overseeing and leading the study, functioning as the coordinator, and working with a Clinical Research Center to manage nursing visits and the day-to-day execution of study visits in the laboratory.
  • Managing database organization, data entry, and data analyses, including running longitudinal statistical analyses.
  • Managing day-to-day study visits with all study participants.
  • Drafting of study reports.
  • Managing adverse study event logs.
  • Overseeing and working with the laboratory technician on the study.
  • Involvement in all stages of experimental design and analysis, as well as scientific reporting.
  • Receiving mentorship in research skills and grantsmanship.
