About The Position
The Bulseco Lab (Coastal MicroEco Lab) is seeking an Adjunct Research Assistant to support research investigating sediment microbial communities and biogeochemical cycling in coastal ecosystems. This role involves key responsibilities such as library preparation for next-generation sequencing (DNA extractions, PCR), assistance with laboratory incubations, and supporting various daily laboratory needs, in addition to overall project management.
Requirements
- Detail oriented and able to work independently
- At least one year of experience in a laboratory environment
- Familiarity with DNA sequencing
- Ability to work in field environments
Nice To Haves
- A BS or BA in a related field
Responsibilities
- Extract DNA from sediment and filter samples
- Perform PCR reactions
- Run gel electrophoresis
- Deliver/ship samples for sequencing
- Maintain laboratory records of ongoing projects/sample inventory
- Support field studies when applicable
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
