About The Position

Charleston Southern University's Horton School of Music and Performing Arts (HSMPA) is looking for Part-Time/Adjunct Dance Instructors to teach one to two courses per semester. The department is particularly interested in instructors for Jazz (Theatre Dance), Contemporary Dance, and Ballet.

Requirements

• An earned master’s degree (in any discipline), but with 18 graduate hours in the cognate being taught, or equivalent/comparable professional experience.
• Five years relevant work or teaching experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and support students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and utilize active learning strategies.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Dance or a related field.
• Experience teaching in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Assist in planning and preparation for end-of-semester performances.
