About The Position

This adjunct position will teach courses for the Communication Studies Program and/or mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now program. Applicants may indicate a preference for one or both opportunities. This position may teach the basic oral communication course, COMM 110 Essentials of Public Presentations in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, online, etc.). This position may mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now dual credit program in the delivery of the COMM 110 Essentials of Public Presentations Course. Instructors must follow programmatic standards in courses they teach and/or mentor and work from a common curriculum developed by the program. Instructors should be available to students and mentees outside of class time.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communication Studies or a closely related discipline, or a master's degree with 18+ graduate credits in Communication.
  • Experience teaching college-level Communication courses.
  • Appreciation for liberal arts education.
  • Ability to work productively and collegially with a variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Ability to lawfully accept employment in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to applicants who can teach classes on campus in Marshall, Minnesota.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who can document effectiveness in teaching online.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses for the Communication Studies Program.
  • Mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now program.
  • Teach the basic oral communication course, COMM 110 Essentials of Public Presentations in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, online, etc.).
  • Mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in the College Now dual credit program in the delivery of the COMM 110 Essentials of Public Presentations Course.
  • Follow programmatic standards in courses taught and/or mentored.
  • Work from a common curriculum developed by the program.
  • Be available to students and mentees outside of class time.
  • Travel to on-site visits within the state of Minnesota (for College Now mentoring applicants).
  • Attend an annual summer workshop on the Southwest Minnesota State University campus (for College Now mentoring applicants).
