About The Position

Under general supervision from the departmental chair, the incumbent teaches EMS courses as scheduled, including initial education and continuing education courses. Maintain regular office hours. Serve on committees when elected or appointed. Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships. Make written recommendations to the Department Chairman regarding curriculum additions, deletions, assessment, and revisions. Make recommendations regarding course content and text selection. Suggest books and instructional materials to be purchased by the Library and Media Center. Instruct Distance Ed and Dual Credit Courses as assigned. May include instruction at satellite campuses.

Requirements

Current certificate/license as a Paramedic.
At least 2 years of clinical practice.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as an instructor in a college setting.
Provider/instructor certificates in BLS, PHTLS, EPC, AMLS and ACLS.
Having earned at least an Associate's Degree in EMS Professions
Certification as an EMS Instructor.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver cognitive, psychomotor, and affective content.
Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, and assignments, and papers as appropriate to discipline.
Administer, compile, and grade examinations as assigned.
Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships.
Engage students in active learning.
Instruct Distance Ed and Dual Credit Courses as assigned.
Develop clear and innovative syllabi and course material.
Demonstrates professional written and oral skills in communications with students.
Utilize advancements in technology to improve instructional methodology.
Incorporates best practices.
Maintain accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
Seek feedback to improve quality of teaching.
Attend conferences, workshops, or programs to enhance professional growth.
Participate in academic/professional organizations.
Develop and implement innovative course content based on current pedagogy.

Integrate a diverse set of perspectives and ideas into course curriculum.
