About The Position

The Adjunct Professor of Art will teach one or more undergraduate courses in the Visual Arts, including but not limited to Studio Art, Art Appreciation, or Art History. Instruction may be lecture-based, studio-based, or a combination of both. Most Art History and Art Appreciation courses are offered online, while Studio Art courses are taught on campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning and engagement across multiple formats.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Art, Art History, Fine Arts, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• General and/or specialized knowledge in studio art and/or art history.
• Understanding of teaching strategies suitable for both in-person and online instruction.
• Familiarity with foundational and contemporary concepts in the visual arts.
• Effective communication and classroom management.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Competency with instructional technology and learning management systems.
• Teach a variety of art-related courses in both traditional and digital formats.
• Facilitate student learning and encourage creative and critical thinking.
• Adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Nice To Haves

• MFA (Master of Fine Arts) or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
• College-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver instruction in accordance with departmental guidelines and course objectives.
• Assess student performance and provide timely and constructive feedback.
• Maintain appropriate records and submit grades in a timely manner.
• Create and maintain a learning environment that supports student participation and success.
• Participate in course planning, curriculum development, and departmental meetings as needed.
• Follow institutional policies and maintain professional conduct.
