Adjunct, Physics
About The Position
The Department of Physics is seeking 1 or more adjunct instructors to teach introductory physics. Topics covered include classical kinematics and dynamics, fluids, waves, electricity and magnetism, and optics. We are looking for instructors for both lectures (3-credit hours) and labs (3-credit hours). All courses will be offered on the Hawk Hill Campus or online, depending the needs of the department. This job posting is a pooled position. The department will accept applications throughout the Academic Year. However, they may only reach out to interview applicants when a need to fill a course has been identified.
Requirements
- The candidate will hold a Masters degree in Physics or related field
- Ability to effectively explain complex concepts to students and have a strong understanding of student learning outcomes
Nice To Haves
- Experience with instruction on the college level
- Experience with teaching online courses.
- PhD in Physics or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver instructional materials such as lectures, lab activities, and assessments (including quizzes, exams)
- Connect lectures and assessments to well defined student learning outcomes (SLOs) which will be clearly shared with students
- Hold weekly office hours to support students (or be available by appointment)
- Create, Administer, and Grade assignments, quizzes, lab reports, and exams
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in the course through a well-organized grade book in our canvas platform
