About The Position

Oakland Community College (OCC) is a student-centered community college in Oakland County, Michigan, dedicated to providing accessible and affordable learning opportunities. As one of the largest community colleges in Michigan, OCC serves over 12,000 students across multiple campuses. OCC is seeking Adjunct Faculty Instructors who are committed to diversity, shared responsibility, open communication, personal empowerment, integrity, and ethical conduct. A key requirement for adjunct faculty is the commitment to utilizing modern technology in the classroom. Applications are continuously accepted and placed in a candidate pool, with instructors hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year based on enrollment. When a need arises, candidates from the pool are reviewed, and the department will contact them directly. Candidates without legal residence in Michigan will be employed through Edustaff, with employment offers, salary, and benefits provided by Edustaff, not OCC. Applicants are required to submit a resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts for all degrees.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Philosophy
  • Commitment to using modern technology in the classroom
  • Submit current resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts for all relevant degrees earned.
  • Transcripts must reflect the date the degree was awarded.
  • If hired, official transcripts will be required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Teach anticipated day and/or evening Philosophy courses, ranging from basic to advanced skill levels.
  • Maintain and/or provide licensure and certifications where applicable.
