About The Position

Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is seeking a qualified and student-centered Adjunct Nursing Clinical Instructor to support the Nursing Program through high-quality clinical instruction and supervision. This position is responsible for facilitating student learning in clinical settings, ensuring safe and effective patient care experiences, and promoting the integration of nursing theory into clinical practice. The Adjunct Nursing Clinical Instructor plays a vital role in preparing competent, entry-level nurses by mentoring students, evaluating clinical performance, and fostering professional behaviors consistent with nursing standards. This position requires clinical expertise, effective teaching and communication skills, and strong collaboration with healthcare partners, faculty, and program leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and positive clinical learning environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Faculty without a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) may be employed for one year and then are required to complete a BSN completion program OR Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program within five years.
  • Part-time faculty without a graduate degree in nursing shall report to a master’s prepared faculty.
  • A minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in medical surgical nursing or specialty area to provide clinical instruction.
  • Current New Mexico License, or a compact state license, or eligibility to obtain a New Mexico license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Established leadership skills including the ability to manage stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners, including employers, community colleges, government entities, policy decision makers, community-based non-profit organizations, job seekers and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing and making presentations to groups and individuals.
  • Performing the essential functions of this position requires the use of a computer throughout most of the workday, the ability to navigate a typical office environment, significant amounts of interpersonal interaction including oral and written communication, and the ability to keep track of multiple tasks, projects, deadlines, information sources, and business processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing recommended.
  • BSN required.
  • Successful experience in teaching at the college level or providing nursing student clinical instruction is preferred.
  • The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong clinical skills, and reasoning, understanding of student clinical evaluation and outcomes.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the community college and nursing philosophy of education.
  • In addition, the candidate must have an appreciation for and understanding of the unique needs of students in both academic and vocational disciplines.
