About The Position

The Adjunct Nursing Faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. This role includes classroom, laboratory, and simulation teaching responsibilities, facilitating student learning, and evaluating student performance in alignment with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Adjunct faculty support the mission of the nursing program by preparing competent, safe, entry-level nurses. This position is located at the main campus, but may report to all Blue Ridge CTC locations and clinical sites as required to meet the needs of the position. This position will include managing a virtual office as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have a graduate degree with a major in nursing; or have a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing and be enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in nursing within one year of employment as a faculty member; or have a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing and at least 10 years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
  • Registered nurse with direct patient care experience in acute care setting.
  • Clinical agency health requirements compliance required.
  • Registered nurse with direct patient care experience in acute care setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current, unencumbered WV RN license.
  • Must also be licensed as RN in any state where clinical experiences are provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field; ­or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement classroom and clinical activities for enrolled nursing students, including development of assignments, tests, and clinical evaluations according to college and nursing department standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans that meet the course objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to meet diverse students learning needs.
  • The potential need to provide direct supervision to students in clinical agencies.
  • Participate in ASN program continual evaluation and improvement.
  • Enforce program policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Maintains communication with the Director of Nursing and full-time faculty regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned to drive the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the College.
