About The Position

San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly adjunct positions for our Crafton Hills College on a continuous basis. This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential future openings as an Adjunct - Part-time, Learning Disability Specialist. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements may be contacted by department deans and/or faculty chairs if there is an interest and/or need. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.

Requirements

  • Master's in counseling, rehabilitation, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent.
  • A bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification.
  • Master’s degree in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities, to include, adult cognitive and achievement assessment or the equivalent.
  • Certification through the California Community College Chancellors Office (CCCCO) as a Learning Disability Specialist.
  • Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Minimum experience for certification as a CCCCO approved Learning Disability Specialist.
  • Completed San Bernardino Community College District online application.
  • A resume summarizing your educational and professional experience.
  • A cover letter explaining how your experience and background demonstrates that you meet the minimum requirements for the position.
  • Teaching Philosophy of your beliefs about teaching and learning, including examples of how you put your beliefs into practice.
  • Unofficial transcripts that show you meet the minimum educational requirement(s) for the position.
  • Transcripts must be legible and from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency.
  • Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts if the position requires a degree.
  • Official Transcripts will be required upon hire.
  • Submission to and successful passing of DOJ live scan/fingerprinting (cost borne by candidate).
  • Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Counseling experience at a community college or high school level specifically providing services to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting evaluations of Community College Students for Disabled Students Program and Services (DSPS) eligibility.
