About The Position

Bergen Community College is seeking adjunct instructors for the Mathematics department for the Fall and Winter 2026 terms. The mathematics department's mission is to foster excellence in teaching and learning mathematics, highlighting its connections to other subjects and enhancing students' ability to apply mathematical concepts. The department offers a variety of courses to meet diverse student needs, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, applications, and the use of technology in mathematical problem-solving. Faculty are encouraged to engage in scholarly activities and collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to develop and modify mathematics courses that support various academic programs.

Requirements

For College Level Mathematics: Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education (must include at least 18 graduate level credits in Mathematics courses).
For Developmental Level Mathematics: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field; one year of teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of college-level teaching experience preferred for College Level Mathematics positions.

Responsibilities

Teach college-level mathematics courses.
Teach developmental-level mathematics courses.
Promote excellence in the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Provide students with an awareness of the connections of mathematics to other subjects.
Strengthen students' ability to apply mathematics to other subjects.
Emphasize problem solving and applications in coursework.
Introduce students to the effective uses of technology in mathematical problem solving.
Promote scholarly activity among faculty and students majoring in mathematics.
Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to modify and develop mathematics courses.
