The Gillings School of Global Public Health, a leading public health institution, offers various professional Master of Public Health (MPH) concentrations. The MPH program is central to public health education, preparing graduates for advanced roles. MPH degrees provide a strong foundation in public health principles and specialized skill development. The program emphasizes experiential learning for practical application of knowledge. Gillings MPH offers both residential and online programs designed to meet diverse student needs and contribute to the public health workforce. The MPH Core curriculum is an interdisciplinary set of courses based on recommendations from ASPPH and CEPH. MPH@UNC, an online MPH program supported by 2U, offers a flexible option for students with scheduling constraints. Students in MPH@UNC learn from UNC faculty and section instructors through interactive online sessions in a virtual classroom setting. MPH@UNC admissions criteria are the same as for residential programs, and graduates receive an identical diploma. Section instructors for MPH@UNC are responsible for teaching core or concentration courses. They conduct live, online, synchronous class sessions once a week for 13 weeks. The MPH@UNC term is 14 weeks long, including a week for holidays and well-being days. Classes are scheduled on weekday evenings, Monday through Thursday.
