About The Position

This is a part-time faculty position teaching undergraduate courses for the Manship School of Mass Communication. The teaching load is one or two mass communication courses per semester. Applicants should provide a cover letter, resume, three professional references, and transcripts. Official transcripts, if needed, are required before hire. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in mass communication or a related field.
• As an alternative to a master's degree: bachelor's degree in mass communication or a related field, together with professional work-related experience that clearly documents qualifications to teach the course or courses.
• Valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment.
• Satisfactory pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or two undergraduate mass communication courses per semester.
• Refer students who appear to need emotional, behavioral, or mental health assistance to the appropriate Student Health Center service.
• Immediately contact the Care Team, Dean of Students, or appropriate law enforcement agency if a student creates the impression of being a danger to themselves or others.
• Avoid creating an impression of client or patient confidentiality beyond rights contained within FERPA.
