About The Position

The Department of Performing Arts at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in Theatre. The university seeks skilled and experienced educators and theatre professionals who are collaborative, team-oriented, and committed to excellence in undergraduate education, artistic development, and ensemble production.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Theater or a related field.
• One to two years of experience in an applicable field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous teaching experience at the collegiate or advanced pre-professional level.
• Professional experience in acting, directing, movement, production, or related areas of theatre.
• Experience working with theatrical productions and student ensembles.
• Ability to teach in multiple areas of the Theatre curriculum.
• Experience mentoring and developing undergraduate performers.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Theatre courses, which may include Introduction to Acting, Theatre Practicum, Stage Movement, and other courses according to departmental needs and the candidate’s qualifications.
• Support rehearsals, performances, and productions of the Charles Gilpin Players and other departmental theatrical activities.
• Collaborate with Theatre and Performing Arts faculty in support of productions, curricular initiatives, and student success.
• Keep records, post mid-term and final grades, and submit attendance.
• Mentor and support students in developing their artistic, performance, and professional skills.
• Post and maintain regular office hours.
• Perform other duties assigned by the department head.
