About The Position

The Core Curriculum and Mathematics programs at St. Ambrose University (Davenport, Iowa), along with its affiliate, Mount Mercy University (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) seek qualified applicants to serve as adjunct instructors for a Statistics course in the Core Curriculum. By applying, candidates will be considered for inclusion in an adjunct faculty pool. Positions are filled on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on programmatic needs. Specific course assignments and formats, including online and face-to-face instruction, vary by semester based on teaching needs. Openings develop on a periodic basis. We are seeking candidates with expertise and interest in teaching STAT 145. Introductory Statistics fulfills the Mathematical Inquiry Core requirement. This introductory statistics course teaches students to organize, visualize, and summarize data, then apply probability concepts to address the enduring question: " How can we use probability and statistics to tell if something is just random or actually meaningful"? Students learn to conduct hypothesis tests, interpret data visualizations, and evaluate statistical claims with appropriate skepticism, using technology tools to draw evidence-based conclusions for real-world decision-making. This course requires students to have basic proficiency through high school algebra.
