Adjunct Instructor - School of Humanities
About The Position
Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) is seeking part-time Adjunct Instructors for the School of Humanities to teach courses in Composition, Music Appreciation, Philosophy, Ethics, History, Literature, Speech, College Foundations, Critical Thinking/Reading, and ESOL. The college is committed to providing accessible, high-quality educational opportunities and fostering student success in a learner-centered environment. Adjunct faculty are responsible for fulfilling the college mission by teaching contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. This role involves facilitating classroom instruction, developing syllabus materials, evaluating student performance, maintaining records, and integrating technology into the learning process. Successful candidates will reside in New York State and be able to work on campus as required. Offers of employment are contingent upon a background check.
Requirements
- Reside in New York State
- Ability to work on campus as required
- Minimum qualifications required to teach specific program courses within the School of Humanities (as per MVCC Adjunct Faculty Minimum Qualifications link)
- Understanding of the college mission and teaching experience in a comprehensive community college
- Focus on student success in a learner-centered environment
- Willingness to use technology to support learning in the academic setting, including on-line instruction and assessment of student learning outcomes

Responsibilities
- Facilitate classroom instruction
- Teach assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives
- Develop and maintain syllabus materials
- Evaluate student performance
- Maintain grades, enter midterm and final grades
- Respond promptly to student inquiries
- Maintain attendance records according to MVCC standards
- Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process
- Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using discretion, patience, and courtesy
