About The Position

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Private Voice Lessons to provide individualized vocal instruction to students pursuing studies in music and vocal performance. The instructor will assist students in developing healthy vocal technique, musicianship, performance skills, and artistic expression through one-on-one lessons. The role involves fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages personal growth, confidence, and achievement, while helping students meet program and course learning outcomes. The available course is MUS250 - Private Music Lessons.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Vocal Performance, Music, Music Education, Pedagogy, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a vocalist or private voice instructor.
  • Knowledge of vocal pedagogy, vocal health, and age-appropriate instructional methods.
  • Ability to teach students with diverse musical backgrounds and experience levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality individual voice instruction to students at varying levels of vocal experience and proficiency.
  • Assess student abilities and develop personalized instructional plans to support vocal and musical growth.
  • Teach healthy vocal production, breath management, diction, tone development, vocal literature, and performance techniques.
  • Recruit students to participate in private voice lessons by promoting the opportunity through campus outreach, student engagement, and collaboration with music faculty and program partners.
  • Guide students in repertoire selection appropriate to their vocal range, technical ability, and educational goals.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, performances, and other program requirements.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and assessment records observing university policies.
  • Communicate with students regarding expectations, goals, and performance preparation.
