About The Position

Designs and delivers instruction in primarily undergraduate courses offered by the Honors (Wesleyan Scholars) Program. Participates in all department, various schools, and University-wide tasks and activities. Disciplines include: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Cultural Studies, English, Ethnic Studies, History, Mass Communications, Music (History/Theory/Applied), Political Science, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Theater.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in one of the listed disciplines (Art, Biology, Chemistry, Cultural Studies, English, Ethnic Studies, History, Mass Communications, Music (History/Theory/Applied), Political Science, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Theater).
• Demonstrated experience in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to design and deliver engaging instruction.
• Knowledge of current research activities in respective discipline.
• Familiarity with curriculum assessment processes.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. or terminal degree in one of the listed disciplines.
• Experience teaching in an honors program or similar setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with university administrative tasks (e.g., submitting grades, evaluations).

Responsibilities

• Prepares lessons and delivers instruction primarily for undergraduate courses.
• Adheres to the faculty handbook and faculty guide.
• Meets classes for the required time and days in accordance with policies established for class schedule.
• Holds required office hours, keeps attendance, submits contracts, book requests, syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
• Remains knowledgeable of current research activities in respective discipline by reading journal articles, attending conferences, and maintaining relationships with other fellow researchers.
• Participates in curriculum assessment.
• Other duties as assigned by the Honors Director.
