About The Position

Carnegie Mellon School of Drama seeks one (or more) adjunct instructor(s) to teach courses and advise productions that are part of the Production Technology & Management (PTM) area in the School of Drama. Possible courses include: Technical Management is a foundational undergraduate Design/Production class that presents fundamental management principles and the general resources and tools used in all aspects of theatre production. Production Personnel Management surveys labor resources, hiring processes, and other topics associated with the implementation and creation of creative processes. Production Advisors serve as the primary contact for the SM teams on season productions throughout the semester, providing feedback for all parts of the process as well as final grade assessment. You will be required to attend some production-related meetings as well as technical and dress rehearsals. These courses are part of the curriculum for MFA and BFA students primarily in the Stage and Production Management programs, but will also serve students in other Design and Production programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in professional Stage and/or Production Management.
  • Experience serving in supervisory positions in creative organizations.
  • Currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Stage and/or Production Management.
  • Teaching experience at the university level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Production Technology & Management.
  • Advise productions as a Production Advisor.
  • Provide feedback on all parts of the production process.
