About The Position

Carroll University seeks an Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics/Computational Science to teach CMP 112, Computational Thinking I, in Spring 2027. The course introduces elementary statistical methods and intermediate-level uses of Excel spreadsheets, focusing on data analysis, organization, visualization, and interpretation. Students are introduced to essential elements of computational thinking and use statistical and software tools to solve problems by developing simple algorithms and applying elementary statistical models. Topics may include descriptive statistics, one- and two-parameter tests (such as two-independent-sample t-tests), correlation, regression, and probabilistic models used to simulate stochastic processes and develop algorithmic thinking and mathematical modeling concepts. The listed section meets on campus from 9:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from January 19 through May 4, 2027. Applicants should indicate the course and section they are interested in and available to teach in the application comments and/or cover letter. Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and unofficial graduate transcripts. Official transcripts are due upon hire. Letters of recommendation or course evaluations are encouraged. Applicants may also provide examples of teaching effectiveness, such as course evaluations or a letter from a current supervisor attesting to classroom skills.
