About The Position

The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts at Keuka College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach in person DAN-101 Introduction to Dance, a course within the General Education program, at its lakeside campus. Requirements

  • An MA or MFA in Dance or related area at the time of appointment.
  • Experience teaching dance.
  • College or University teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience using a variety of teaching strategies and tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a wide variety of mediums.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
  • Availability to teach early morning, afternoon, or evening on the Keuka College campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach DAN-101 Introduction to Dance, which consists of 3 on-campus contact hours per week per section, plus office hours, course preparation, and student assessment.
  • Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus, goals, and objectives.
  • Design, administer, and grade essays, examinations, and applicable projects to accurately assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus.
  • Provide clear documentation of student progress through regular, frequent, and timely feedback.
  • Complete academic warnings and midterm progress reports as necessary.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and actively engage students.
  • Contribute to general education program assessment of student learning outcomes based on signature assignments in course.
  • Be accessible to students via email or in person, maintain regular office hours to meet one-on-one with students.
  • Work with the Chair and other faculty in the Division of Humanities & Fine Arts to ensure instructional quality and program quality.
  • Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
