About The Position

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), founded in 1953 and located in scenic Upstate NY, is a multi-campus institution with locations in Troy and Malta, New York. HVCC offers over 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). As part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, HVCC serves approximately 9,000 students annually and is recognized for its career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and commitment to a diverse student population. The college also has an extension center in Malta, NY (HVCC North) and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, NY. Hudson Valley is seeking experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individuals to join its Adjunct Faculty team for the Fall 2026 semester, continuing its legacy of successful community service. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in English or an English-related area such as Literature, English Education, Composition, or Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, correctly and effectively.
  • Must be either a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States.
  • Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in distance learning with Brightspace (D2L) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person, hybrid, or online instruction for composition courses and possibly other courses.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Participation on departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
  • At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
