About The Position

Theoria Technical College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach ENG 101 — English Composition. This is a 100% online, asynchronous, 5-week course designed to develop college-level writing, critical reading, rhetorical analysis, and research skills. The course fulfills a General Education requirement within the Associate of Science degree program. The role involves delivering an instructor-facilitated course, maintaining Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), evaluating assignments, responding to student communications, maintaining records, completing training, and participating in evaluations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English, English Composition, Rhetoric, Literature, Creative Writing, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited U.S. institution; OR Master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate semester units in English or Composition coursework.
  • Demonstrated postsecondary teaching experience, preferably in an online or hybrid environment.
  • Strong written communication and instructional feedback skills.
  • Reliable computer, internet connection, and home-office setup compatible with Orbund LMS.
  • U.S. work authorization (employment eligibility documentation required upon offer).

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of online undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching first-year composition or developmental writing courses.
  • Familiarity with Quality Matters or similar online course-design standards.
  • Experience supporting diverse adult learner populations in asynchronous environments.
  • Knowledge of APA and MLA citation methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an asynchronous, instructor-facilitated course within Orbund LMS consistent with the approved institutional syllabus and course shell.
  • Maintain Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) in accordance with 34 CFR §600.2 through weekly announcements, instructor-led discussion facilitation, individualized feedback, and meaningful academic engagement.
  • Evaluate and grade assignments in accordance with institutional timelines (10 business days for assignments; 7 days after course close for final grades).
  • Respond to student communications within 48 business hours, excluding weekends and institutional holidays.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, academic engagement, and grading records consistent with institutional and accreditation requirements.
  • Complete required institutional training modules, including FERPA, accreditation compliance, distance education standards, and instructional policies, within 30 days of engagement.
  • Participate in probationary review and annual faculty evaluation processes consistent with institutional policy and Administrative Operating Procedures (AOPs).

Benefits

  • Adjunct faculty are compensated at a flat rate of $800.00 per 5-week course taught.
  • Payment is issued upon successful completion of the course, submission of final grades, and institutional verification of course closeout requirements.
