About The Position

Lakeland University, a liberal arts institution, seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate Education courses in Reading beginning in the fall, 2026 term. The courses include EDU 382 Reading Teaching Techniques and EDU 282L Reading Teaching Techniques Lab. EDU 382 covers the interactive nature of reading and reading instruction, developmental stages of reading, reading strategies, and effective instructional techniques, including phonics. Students will learn to design, implement, and evaluate effective reading programs for early childhood, elementary, and middle school students, with a required clinical experience involving at least five (5) hours of one-on-one tutoring. EDU 282L is a lab course designed to help students seeking certification in Elementary and Middle School (K-9) prepare for the Foundations of Reading Test, including test-taking strategies. Classes are held face-to-face at Lakeland's Home Campus in Plymouth, WI, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00-8:55 a.m. during the fall term (August 24 - December 4).

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education
  • License in reading education
  • Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in education.
  • Work with full-time faculty and deans to understand and employ activities that meet course learning objectives.
  • Administer and/or develop coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives.
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
  • Use university technology as directed.
