About The Position

This is a face-to-face course appointment made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This course provides middle school and secondary teacher candidates with theory-based strategies to develop middle school and high school learners' engagement with literacy, with a focus on building literacy competencies in both discipline-specific and interdisciplinary contexts. Course activities will include critical examination, modeling, and practice with theory-based teaching and learning strategies that will scaffold the development of middle school and secondary school learners' oral, written, visual, technological, and higher-order literacy competencies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in an education-related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant PK-12 teaching experience.
  • Local applicants only.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach EDU359 Reading and Writing in the Content Area course.
  • Successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course.
  • Participate in other training if required by the department.
