About The Position

Part-time adjunct dental hygiene faculty is a team instructor in the dental hygiene program at State Fair Community College. The adjunct faculty will be assigned to instruct first and/or second year students while working with patients in the campus clinic or classroom. Participation in team instructor calibration meetings are also required.

Requirements

  • Hold a current license to practice dental hygiene in Missouri.
  • Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
  • The ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner.
  • Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess an understanding of the range of needs the college students may represent.
  • Possess commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
  • Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.
  • Completed applications will include cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcripts (official transcripts must be requested upon hire).
  • Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense.

Nice To Haves

  • For didactic instructors: Bachelor's degree and three years related industry experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence preferred.
  • For clinic or lab instructors: Bachelor's degree and three years related industry experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence preferred.
  • Associates degrees may be accepted.
  • Demonstrated student centeredness.
  • Preference given to those with previous community college experience.
  • Preference is given to Missouri residents.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting minimum standards.
  • Ongoing planning, systematic development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical component of the DH program.
  • Clinical instruction and evaluation of students.
  • Maintaining student clinical records.
  • Ensuring student and client confidentiality.
  • Completing clinical evaluation forms for each student and discussing with students at designated intervals.
  • Attending staff meetings.
  • Determining clinical grades and recording appropriately.
  • Assisting with the development of clinical syllabi and orientation information.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.
