About The Position

The University of North Texas (UNT) Dallas is seeking qualified individuals to establish a robust pool of talented adjunct instructors for its growing counseling programs. Selected candidates will be responsible for teaching master's-level counseling courses across multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction using the Canvas learning management system. The ideal candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching excellence and dedication to student success. Beginning with the Spring 2026 semester, teaching opportunities will be available in Group Counseling, Family Counseling, Substance Abuse Treatment, Professional School Counseling, Practicum in School Counseling, and Career Counseling. Candidates will be drawn from this talent pool as positions become available. As our programs continue to expand, additional teaching opportunities may arise across our counseling curriculum.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a closely related field from a CACREP-accredited university.
Active status as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a minimum of two years of experience or hold equivalent licensure in a counseling field.
Academic experience working with all students, staff and faculty.
Experience in working with industry-standard tools and programming languages for analytics.
Strong instructional design and course development skills.
Effective use of learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor all students.
Proficient use of educational technology and digital learning tools.
Ability to create supportive learning environments.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
Ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet academic demands.

Nice To Haves

For School Counseling positions, candidates must hold Texas School Counselor Certification.
Minimum of three years of school counseling experience, including supervision responsibilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of TEA requirements and maintain active memberships in state and national school counseling organizations.
For Clinical Mental Health positions, candidates should have substantial experience in group counseling and family systems approaches, along with a proven record of teaching all individuals.
Experience working in all academic settings.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of CACREP standards.
Maintain active memberships in state and national professional organizations.
Bilingual skills are highly valued for both positions.

Responsibilities
