About The Position

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Drake University invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach the culminating capstone project course for the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics program beginning January 25, 2026. We seek candidates who will be knowledgeable and committed to providing rigorous and engaging learning experiences for graduate students enrolled. Responsibilities include creating and delivering course content, guiding students through the start and completion of a real-world project in health informatics and/or data analytics, utilizing Drake’s learning management system (LMS), and assessing student learning. Specific course linked to this position includes: HSCI 285 – Health Informatics & Analytics Capstone Project: This online, asynchronous course provides an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the Drake University Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics (MS HIA) program to complete a project that addresses a real-life health informatics and analytics problem at a healthcare organization or related organization in the community. The capstone course will provide a hands-on experience in which students will work in a professional environment under the supervision of an instructor with health informatics, analytics, or related experience. To thrive in this role the individual will have strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, and students in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship. The successful candidate will have organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, adhere to course and program policies, stay on track with the syllabus schedule, maintain documentation records, and follow through on assignments to completion. They will also have the initiative and ability to work independently while thriving in a setting requiring collaborative communication for maximal efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred in health informatics, data analytics, or a related field is minimally required.

  • Previous teaching experience in a classroom and/or project-based workplace training environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of student-led projects focused on impacting a problem or challenge (real or hypothetical) within a healthcare organization through the application of data-driven analyses and solutions.
  • Assessing student work, providing formative feedback to students on projects, securing and maintaining data.
  • Prepare for and deliver the lecture and discussion components of the course.
