About The Position

Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach a one-credit Inequality in American Society (INT 151) class. This is a part-time, semester-to-semester appointment with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year, and teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation is commensurate with educational credentials, professional experience, and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound by the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph’s University, including the Faculty Handbook. SJU offers a wide variety of degree programs and may call on adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty.

Responsibilities

Provide support and guidance to students
Instruct an assigned course, providing syllabi and other instructional materials
Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction
Plan, develop, and teach well-organized classes and present other learning opportunities for students in accordance with student learning outcomes for the course.
Prepare curriculum materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional materials in keeping with departmental and college principles.
Uphold and comply with faculty responsibilities as described in the "Faculty Responsibilities" section of the Faculty Handbook.
Seek always to promote a spirit of collegiality in dealings with college staff.
