NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach EDU 211C/TECP 67C Reading and Language Development for the Spring 2027 semester. This course is crucial for both the Education A.S. degree program and the Teacher Education Conversion program (TECP). NHTI's Education degree program offers students comprehensive teacher education preparation with practical, hands-on field experiences. The TECP certificate is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree and wish to obtain a license to teach mathematics, science, special education, or English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The course focuses on assessing and addressing student literacy skills, covering language development, various assessment methods for identifying learner needs, and planning interventions based on data-driven, collaborative decision-making. It will explore research-based methods for teaching phonics, vocabulary, spelling, fluency, reading comprehension, and writing, and guide students in developing effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening strategies. Emphasis will be placed on authentic, evidence-based, differentiated instruction aligned with common core standards.
