Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs
About The Position
The adjunct faculty will teach POLT 505 American Congress on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10-3:30 to approximately 30 undergraduate students. The adjunct faculty will deliver high-quality instruction, emphasizing practical and theoretical aspects through innovative course design and delivery. The adjunct faculty will function as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs responsible for teaching, offering office hours, completing associated administrative tasks and communicating as appropriate with the Chair and staff on matters related to UNH policy or course management.
Requirements
- Master’s degree and 2 years of professional experience.
- ABD or PhD in a related discipline.
- Candidate must be able to teach about American Congress and possess a broader knowledge of American government and political institutions.
- Candidate must be comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and abilities, and be able to provide appropriate guidance and support regarding coursework.
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience is preferred
- ABD or PhD in Political Science or a related discipline.
- Teaching certification and/or experience, particularly advanced high school or college students.
Responsibilities
- Delivering in-class instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10-3:30
- Offering 1-2 hours per week of office hours for students to meet outside of class time.
- Syllabus preparation
- Coordinating books/reading materials with the bookstore
- Maintaining Canvas
- Grading
- Responding to email queries from students, Department faculty and staff.
