About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Requirements

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline AND, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) AND, two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); OR
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution AND, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) AND five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); OR
  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline AND, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) AND three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);
  • Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
  • Official transcripts/certifications required upon hiring.
  • Classes for this position must be taught in-person on campus

  • Experience with and the ability to teach topics not limited to but including, Safety, Electrical, Mechanical, Fluid Power, PLC’s, Robotics, Vision Systems, HMI’s, and VFD’s.

Responsibilities

  • Connect subject matter with related fields.

  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
  • Employ available instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Communicate subject matter to students.
  • Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials.
  • Support classroom efforts to promote student success.
  • Establish and adhere to learning objectives.
  • Develop evaluation methods which fairly measure student progress toward objectives.
  • Evaluate and return student work to promote maximum learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Submit final grade rosters, grade books and attendance rosters to division administrators each semester according to established deadlines.
  • Meet scheduled classes in accordance with college policy.
  • Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Exercise stewardship of College facilities and materials.
  • Respond, in a timely fashion, to information requests from College, division and program administrators.
  • Contribute, when appropriate, to program and division curriculum development processes.
  • Attend program, divisional and College meetings and events as feasible.
  • Maintain familiarity with College goals, mission and long-range plans.
  • Contribute to planning and development processes where appropriate.
  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
