About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The position creates a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provides effective instruction and assessment within common syllabi. Teaching is in person and on campus in the South Bend/Elkhart service area; asynchronous online sections are not part of this role. The position focuses on content-centered instruction in Student Success, with interactive application of course objectives. The listed compensation is $47.35 per contact hour. The position reports to the Department/Program Chair.

Requirements

• Earned bachelor's degree or higher.
• Experience instructing, teaching, or guiding adult students or clients.
• Ability to promote an environment reflecting the broad backgrounds of students and employees, where every individual feels respected and valued.
• Ability to provide content-centered, on-campus instruction focused on the interactive application of Student Success objectives.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement or alter lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage proactively and regularly with students in meaningful ways that support learning and a positive experience.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies that engage students in their learning.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, following College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment in which people from diverse backgrounds feel respected and valued.
• Conduct responsibilities in accordance with FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
