About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi. This position teaches classes in person on campus in the South Bend/Elkhart service area; asynchronous online sections are not included. The role provides content-centered instruction with an emphasis on interactive application of Student Success objectives. Responsibilities are subject to College policies, applicable regulatory requirements including FERPA, and professional standards. Other associated duties may also be assigned.

Requirements

• Earned bachelor's degree or higher.
• Experience instructing, teaching, or guiding adult students or clients.
• Ability to promote an environment that respects and values the diverse backgrounds of students and employees.
• Ability to provide content-centered instruction on campus, focused on interactive application of Student Success objectives.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology effectively to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement or adapt lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage proactively and regularly with students in meaningful, productive ways that support learning and a positive Ivy Tech experience.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies that engage students in their learning.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and coworkers while complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment that respects and values the diverse backgrounds of students and employees.
