About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at San Diego, CA, in the Operations program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for courses in Data, Cybersecurity, and AI in Business Strategy, Project Management II, Project Management I, Foundations of Project Management, and Project Schedule, Cost, and Resource Management. The role involves actively engaging students, guiding them in collaboration and application of learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating current subject-matter expertise, and providing feedback on curricular improvements. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to adult learners and is a leading provider to the U.S. military. The typical UMGC student is an adult learner juggling a career, family, and other priorities. Adjunct faculty are expected to be scholar-practitioners, actively engaged in their field and passionate about helping the next generation of professionals grow.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Operations, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Professional experience in Project Management or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or extensive project management experience
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • This position is designated to teach on-site at San Diego, CA.

  • Terminal degree in Management, Operations, or a related field of learning.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
