About The Position

Adjunct instructors may teach non-credit workforce, technical, business, leadership, and professional development courses offered through the Center for Economic Development. Instructional areas may include, but are not limited to, industrial technology, advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, PLCs, robotics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, welding, machining, OSHA/safety, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, leadership, supervision, communication, project management, entrepreneurship, and customized training for business and industry. This is a pool position. Applicants will be contacted as positions become available. The position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development who assigns responsibilities regarding student needs and course outcomes.

Requirements

  • Qualifications of instructors teaching in the classroom for both lower and/or upper-level courses leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree requires a master’s degree in the discipline or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the subject area.
  • Courses leading to a master’s require a doctorate degree.
  • Adjunct faculty with a clinical assignment must be prepared at the level required by accreditation.
  • Instructors in occupational and technical areas are generally required to have a minimum of an associate’s degree and related work experience.
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
  • Current knowledge of the relevant discipline.
  • Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries.
  • Ability to respond to needs of learners from a variety of educational backgrounds in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to deliver course outcomes and content through a variety of teaching/learning styles.
  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Criminal Background Check and Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Check.
  • May also include a drug screen, child maltreatment check, and proof of immunizations depending upon area of study.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
