About The Position

Nossi College of Art & Design is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Web Language III. This course builds upon previous web language courses, introducing students to advanced concepts in responsive frameworks, JavaScript, and CSS Grid. The goal is for students to be able to develop and publish a fully responsive website from a prototype. The web courses focus on client-side scripting, user experience, wireframing, prototyping, and advanced interactive features in responsive websites. Courses meet once a week and are offered in the evenings. This is a campus-based position in Nashville, TN. The Instructor/Faculty is a key part of the academic program, acting as a master teacher in their subject area. They must be an effective classroom manager, adaptable, and able to relate well to students, faculty, and administration. Instructors must also support the college's philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • Thorough knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and inspire learners.
  • At least five years professional experience working in the field that is being taught.
  • Must present an up-to-date resume with at least five examples of recent work.
  • Must know Adobe Creative Suite and Graphic Design Fundamentals.
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Madison, TN 37115: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate Degree preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • 1 Year of teaching (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Teach students according to approved syllabus. Changes may be made to the syllabus upon approval of the department Coordinator, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and President.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Inform students of all course requirements, materials needed, classroom policies (absences, tardies), grading procedures, and project requirements during the first class meeting.
  • Take and record attendance for each class meeting, separate from student attendance sheets, and maintain all class records.
  • Monitor and chart each student’s progress through observation, reinforcement, remediation, tutoring, and review.
  • Assist students’ progress by way of weekly quizzes, mid-term and final exams and by maintaining a current record of all grades including projects and presentations.
  • Counsel and advise students, motivating them to do their best work.
  • Report students with personal or psychological problems that may hinder academic performance or pose a risk to themselves or others to the Student Services Director and College leadership.
  • Ensure student grading is completed on time and entered into the grade book consistently.
  • Notify every student, in writing, of their mid-term grade.
  • Ensure classrooms are in good order at the end of each class.
  • Provide 3 ½ hours of learning opportunity for each class.
