About The Position

The University of New Haven is seeking adjunct instructors in Sociology to support the instructional needs of the Psychology and Sociology Department. Adjunct instructors are hired to teach specific courses based on their expertise and typically teach no more than half of a full-time load. They receive a letter of appointment for each semester and are paid per course. There is no expectation of continuing employment. The position supports teaching undergraduate sociology courses, including Introduction to Sociology.

Requirements

  • At least a master's degree or Ph.D. in Sociology or a related discipline (e.g. Social Work)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prepare courses with best pedagogical practice in mind
  • Experience with instructional technology
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly adopt, the Canvas LMS.
  • Must possess valid work authorization at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience teaching college-level preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more courses in undergraduate sociology, including Introduction to Sociology.
