About The Position

Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a field relevant to the subject(s) to be taught
  • Relevant ministry and teaching experience is highly valued
  • Excellence in pedagogy, classroom management, designing assignments and classroom activities, explaining complex ideas in a way students can understand, and integrating Christian faith with the course material
  • Grade assignments and post grades within a reasonable time frame
  • Utilize the learning management system (Brightspace) and any in-classroom technology necessary for excellent instruction
  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate their faith with their teaching and to connect with students relationally, providing genuine care for the student as a person, while also maintaining appropriate boundaries

Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
