About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at Quantico, VA, in the Operations program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for courses in Project Management, including Foundations of Project Management (PMAN 634), Project Schedule, Cost, and Resource Management (PMAN 635), Project Uncertainty, Risk, Ambiguity, and Complexity (PMAN 637), Project Stakeholder Communications Management (PMAN 638), and Project Management Quality (PMAN 639). The role involves actively engaging students, guiding them in collaboration and application of learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating subject-matter expertise, and contributing to curricular improvements. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to adult learners and is a leading provider to the U.S. military. The ideal candidate is a scholar-practitioner who is actively engaged in their field and wishes to help the next generation of professionals grow.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Operations, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Professional experience in Project Management or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or extensive project management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Terminal degree in Management, Operations, or a related field of learning.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
