About The Position

The School of Nursing at James Madison University is accepting applications for part-time adjunct clinical instructors to teach in-person undergraduate nursing clinical and laboratory courses during the academic year. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, and weekend hours depending on program needs. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

  • Active RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with specialty certification or a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Recent clinical practice experience.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering an welcoming learning environment.
  • Ability to meet all university and clinical agency compliance requirements.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Completion of an I-9 form and presentation of documentation of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Use of the E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Previous undergraduate clinical teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and evaluating students in clinical and laboratory settings.
  • Collaborating with course faculty to support student learning and course outcomes.
  • Teaching across a variety of undergraduate nursing specialty areas, including but not limited to medical-surgical nursing, older adult health, women’s health, child health, psychiatric-mental health nursing, and community/public health nursing.
